My childcare experience started as early as elementary school, taking care of my siblings and working as the "neighborhood babysitter." Since then, I have worked with kids ages ranging from 8 months old to pre-teens. I was also an after school and summer nanny for two years, for two children ages 5 and 11 at start (7 and 13 at finish). I worked as an English teacher for the past five months to 60 children ages ranging from 8-12, and prior to that I volunteered as an English teacher for several years to refugees, whose ages ranged from 6-12.
As my parents worked and we traveled when I was young, nannies and au pairs were an integral part of my life. I know how important it is for children to feel safe and connect with their caregivers, so parents do not have to worry about the well-being of their children while they are out.
My favorite memory of working with children has been my work with teaching English as a second language. I spent August through December of 2021 learning Arabic in Jordan, whilst teaching English at a local elementary school. I was in charge of three 6th and 5th grade classes, made up of about 20 children each. I loved finding different ways to work with various personalities and keep them interested in what can sometimes be a mundane subject. My pride and joy was watching these kids grow in their skillset, all while learning valuable lessons with one another both in and out of the classroom.
Other facts about me...I am majoring in International Relations with a minor in Arabic, at University of Colorado. I went to high school in Germany and I enjoy exploring the outdoors.

WHAT PARENTS and SUPERVISORS SAY
"I was Monique's direct supervisor during her period as an ESL teacher, with 50 children between the age of 4-12. She worked through different teaching strategies with the children to enhance their language skills and practice. She did not follow only one technique for every child. Monique was punctual, and she followed the agreed on tasks. While working, she helped the students enjoy the language by reading stories, playing outdoor games, using the multimedia, and running language competitions. Her experience with different students at different ages and backgrounds amazed me, as she was adaptive and creative as well. She showed serious commitment and listened to feedback and followed instructions. She also prepared well in advance. She was very keen to do her job to the upmost commitment. She really loves her students and wanted them to grow . She is a very supportive, well-rounded and smart person, with great manners as well. We would love to have her back . She left with a big appreciation farewell!" - Reem A.
“Monique cared for my two children for two years and she was wonderful. They were about 5 and 11 when she began, and she picked them up from school and drove them home and sometimes sat for us on weekends. She played with them and was very creative and did crafts and projects, and would also cook and bake. My kids loved her. She was very helpful, and really good with being on time and dependable and I was relying on that, because I was working and I needed to be sure my children were picked up and cared for after school. I would recommend her to other parents, absolutely!” - Monica J.
